Small polyp stony corals (SPS) primarily eat detrital aggregates colonized by beneficial bacterioplankton adhering to coral's mucus layer. There's also a fungal element to the symbiotic mix. SPS farm their own food in their mucus layer, especially in recesses in their structure. SPS are carnivorous and high-protein microbes support growth and health in them.
SPS do not appear to digest phytoplankton (algae) They culture their own, called zooxanthellae. Their internal zooxanthellae are nourished through mucus by the byproducts of bacterioplankton. Zooplankton are sparse in nature and make up a small amount of the coral's nutritional intake. Bacteria in the mucus layer are required to degrade it first. In time, the bacterioplankton fix and reduce nitrates produced by this rotting. These large pieces of coral nutrients are adding to the pollution in the aquarium until it is consumed. Bacteria enriched coral mucus also contains beneficial organisms that may eat, crowd out or provide antibiotics by-products against coral pathogens.
SPS Coral Grow provides a bio-film that adheres to and enhances the coral's mucus layer. This bio-film provides an enhanced environment for increased bacterioplankton colonization allowing SPS to feed themselves more efficiently. Feeding with coral foods may become unnecessary. This eliminates pollution caused by excess food. The use of the appropriate trace elements and water conditioners should be continues. SPS Coral Grow is a natural cultured detrital aggregate with no biocidal preservatives, as are needed in liquid coral foods. Results are usually seen within two weeks.
Directions Amount used depends on bio-load which is the quantity of corals in the aquarium. A starting guide is one-half teaspoon per hundred gallons every other day. Heavily stocked aquariums can consume one teaspoon or more daily. Excess will be picked up by the skimmer. Mix proportion to be used in some reef aquarium water and pour into an area with current. It's not important that all of it initially dissolves.

I just wanted to send in a note to thank Jeff in regards to his helping me find the right lighting for my tank. I have a custom, 60" tank in which I had been using standard, 48" light hoods from the local pet stores (i.e. Perfecto lights). I had initially gone onto http://www.jeffsaquaticlife.com/ to purchase a standard 48" T5 light fixture after one of my Perfecto light strips burned out (3rd one in 4 years). Thankfully, the light that I had chosen was out of stock. Jeff contacted me to get additional information regarding my tank setup and was able to design a retrofit lighting kit, including a moon light, for my tank for the same cost as the T5 fixture. He also helped me during the installation process to ensure that I had everything wired correctly! For the first time, light now reaches the corners of my tank.

Jeff no problem, using the light with two bulbs out, like I said if one goes out another also is out, but whoooo this light is nice, and this with two bulbs out.!!. The bulb is no big deal, not your fault new bulb was bad from maunfacturer this happens . Great service thank you so much for the fast shipment and super great price. Hey Jeff, I just wanted to give you big thanks for an exceptional experience!! I've been an aquarium hobbyist/enthusiast on and off for the past 13 years and recently decided to get back into it.
